VOLUNTEER/STAFF APPRECIATION PARTY 2006

The Annual Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Volunteer and Staff Appreciation Party was held on November 5th and attended by over 100 volunteers and guests. The afternoon started with an array of appetizers and was followed by a mouth-watering meal prepared and served by the organization's Board of Directors and Management. Board President Linda Lawrie conducted the afternoon program that included a short bio on the "History of Volunteers" and introduction of board members, staff and volunteers. All of our volunteers are special people with big hearts, but there are a few that stand out for the extra exceptional things that they do. As Linda described each of these extraordinary people, everyone put their thinking caps to guess their identities before they were announced. The 2006 Volunteer of the Year awards were presented to Marcia Westra for the Thrift Store, Carole Young for the Shelter, and Maggie Hart for the Organization. Also this year the organization is proud to recognize some younger generation volunteers: Katie Laverty (age 13) for Special Thrift Store Junior Volunteer and Kristin Gummerson (age 16) as Special Shelter Junior Volunteer.
