Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate everywhere and even some to eat! Over 35 gourmet chocolate desserts was auctioned at the recent Sundowner held April 26th at the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Thrift Store. The Choclate Auction event held in conjunction with the Pagosa Springs Chamber Sundowner is one of the several fundraisers that the humane society holds throughout the year. This year's theme was "Disco Fever" with guests attired in everything from flared bottoms to a John Travolta "Stayin' Alive" suit. An array of appetizers were served to over 120 guests followed by a dessert of fresh baked brownies topped off with chocolate sauce and ice cream prepared by the humane society staff and volunteers. Guests settled under a glittering Disco Ball to take part in the bidding wars for the delectable and incredible chocolate desserts from cakes, brownies, cheese cakes. One of the highlights of the evening was Choke Cherry's Red Flyer wagon filled with chocolates and gourmet sauces, imported olive oils and syrups. Items were donated and created by master chefs and caterers for this packed filled evening that brought in over $9,400! A special thank you to all our special bakers, guests and volunteers including our Auctioneer Aristotle Karas who helped make this evening such an incredible success.
