AUCTION FOR THE ANIMALS 2013
8/31/13 UPDATE: The 19th Annual Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Auction for the Animals was held August 23 at the Ross Aragon Community Center in Pagosa Springs. Ken Kincaid performed the auctioneer duties with style. Pagosa Springs Cheerleaders again served wonderful hors d'oeuvres prepared by Matt from the View, DSP Pizzeria, and our wonderful kitchen volunteers. Dessert cookies rounded out the delectable offerings prepared by Kellie Stevens, Alley House. Siri Schuchardt and Evelyn Tennyson were the co-chairs for the event. Of course, we could never do it without our wonderful staff and volunteers as well as the public! As you can see from the pictures, an enjoyable time was had by all who attended:

The 19th annual Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Auction for the Animals will be held Friday evening, August 23, at the Ross Aragon Community Center. The silent auction and brown bag raffle will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by the live auction at 7:45 p.m.

Have you ever wanted a Roger Staubach autographed football or a framed and autographed action photo of John Elway?
A selection of wonderful Texas and California wines or a beautiful Royal King Trail saddle?
How about a selection of stunning jewelry pieces, including a Lulu Begay turquoise and coral inlay necklace and earring set, a Vernon Phillips turquoise, pearl and black onyx necklace, a vintage traditional style red coral and silver necklace, or a 22-karat gold Trabzon bracelet?
Would either of two Rick Unger paintings look good in your home?
How about a tour of California wineries or getaway packages to destinations such as Cabo, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia or Panama?

Please plan to attend one of the most enjoyable evenings of the year and support the animal shelter's mission of providing a safe haven for the homeless, unwanted and lost dogs and cats in our community.

Our local Humane Society does not receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States, American Humane, the ASPCA or the United Way. The animal shelter relies on revenue from private donations, the Humane Society thrift store and fund raisers such as the Auction for the Animals to provide care and sustenance to animals in need.

We are still seeking additional new and like-new donations for this exciting event. Signed artwork and books, gift certificates, jewelry, sports and outdoor equipment, gift items, dog and cat related products, and other biddable items are needed to help make the auction a great success again this year.

If you have an item or items you would like to donate, deliver them to our administration office located above the thrift store or call 264-5549 to schedule a pick up. Donations in excess of $250 cash or verifiable value will receive one or more free tickets to the event. The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible to the full extent allowed.

Auction volunteers would greatly appreciate donated items as soon as possible so that they may be properly catalogued and included in our auction marketing materials. All donations must be received by 6:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, to be included in the auction.

Advance ticket sales will begin on Monday, Aug. 12, and can be purchased until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Humane Society Thrift Store (269 Pagosa Street/Hwy 160), Chamber of Commerce (402 San Juan Street/Hot springs Blvd), Higher Grounds Coffee (189 Talisman Drive), and Pagosa Feed and Nursery (166 Bastille Drive). Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event (same prices as last year.) The price of admission includes a drink ticket, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, and dessert catered by Alley House Grille, The View and DSP Pizza. We will serve microbrewery beer, soft drinks and two popular wines from the Scott Harvey Winery, located in the heart of Amador County in California.

For more information or to make a tax deductible donation to the auction, call the Humane Society at 970-264-5549.
